Time for Home after a Long but Successful WWT Camp!!
Well it’s our final day here in Portugal after 4 weeks!! The weather has been great and the training has been hard but fantastic! I have hit a training throw PB, PB’s in my explosive tests (Shots, Jumps + Sprints) and I am now down to my fighting weight!! The internet is pretty poor out here so I will post a few videos of throwing sessions etc once I am back and settled! Alfamar has been a good destination for just being able to train and be alongside some great throwers. It was fantastic to see the Olympic Javelin medalists out here and to see what they are doing and why they are doing it. You always need to learn!

I have to give a huge thanks to Welsh Athletics for funding my old coach John Davies to come out with me for the first 2 weeks. He was a fantastic help and offered great support and feedback in my technical sessions. I have not been a big training thrower with a previous best of 72.76m but within the first 2 weeks I had managed to hit 74.80m. We (Me, John & Chris) were also given the opportunity to work alongside my S&C Coach, Matt Archer, Nutritionist Tom Maynard, Physio’s, Liba Sheeran and James Davies who have been there to help improve on my weaknesses!! The differences all of these guys have made in such a small space of time has been incredible.

This final week has been more than just a little bit of recovery with the 3 previous weeks of intensive work finally catching up on me! This block of training however was needed in order to be able to start tapering in June to help defend my UK title for the 4th Successive year in Birmingham. The volume of work has come down but the intensity in the gym is still quite high. I have never been a thrower to come out and hit a PB in the first competition as you need to do it when the time is right so it would be silly for me to peak in May.
I am now back in the UK and missing the sun of Portugal but it is also great being back in the UK!! Missed the place! I now have 1 week to prepare for The Loughborough International where I will be representing Wales! This will be a good test for me to see where I am at the moment…. although in good shape… timing in competition can be a hit and miss at the start of the season. Videos should be up on my website very soon so keep checking back to keep updated at
Big thanks to my sponsors Sci-Mx Nutrition, Sunwise GB, Full Factory Winnerswear, Myithlete and ProMixx!!
