EUROPEAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS – THE BUILD UP

Lee Doran

I was delighted to hear that I had been selected for the European Team Championships in Gateshead on 22/23 June 2013.

We have had our season planned around this event but also bearing in mind the UK Championships & World Trials in July. The idea was too get a good solid throw early on and go back into a good block of training…with hitting 75.60m with only having two competitions I would usually be quite happy with this but we set our targets much higher and disappointed I didn’t reach this as I was definitely capable of reaching this. So, in my eyes I have under performed thus far.

The build up to this competition has been going steady but was glad to see some good positives steps in my technical session with my coach David Parker. We have worked on a few things that have now shown an improvement but feel now it is just down to a timing issue! I am in a good place at the moment and have a tough task ahead but I feel there is a big throw there!

My gym based work has been really good and getting more explosive week after week. This has been shown with my shot work improving my season’s best!

Travelling up to Gateshead tomorrow evening to meet up with the team and have 2 more throwing sessions before the showdown on Sunday afternoon!! Stay tuned to the BBC and hopefully you will see a good performance from not only me but the whole GB team!
