Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Science, ASCC (UKSCA Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach), Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Strength and Conditioning for Sport.
Coaching Base: Welsh Institute of Sport, National Indoor Athletics Centre.
Matt began coaching in the field of strength and conditioning in 2004. He was based in South Devon where he worked as a S&C coach for Exeter’s high performance Tennis Centre and freestyle performance (currently known as Andrew Adams performance). The original founder of Freestyle performance (Dan Welch) was a huge driving force in Matt’s passion to develop as a coach within the field of strength and conditioning. Matt moved to Cardiff In 2007 to study for a Masters in Coaching Science where he worked with the UWIC Athletic and Tennis Squads. At the beginning of 2008 Matt began work for the Welsh Institute of Sport where he provided support for various sporting disciplines including; Badminton, Sailing, Table Tennis, Athletics, Judo, Tennis, Sprint Cycling, Bobsleigh. His main areas of expertise are in the field of strength and power development and main interests include; strength and power diagnosis, long term athlete development and the stretch shortening cycle.
